You can now purchase LEDs that are similar in color and brightness than your CFLs but they will cost you more, but with the fewer replacements needed and the energy savings, the cost will be worth it.

If you are looking for a bright tasking lighting that is similar to natural daylight, you should look into Halogen lighting. Not only does it give off a natural light, but it’s more energy efficient than Incandescent lights.

Understanding The Terms

When it comes to purchasing your light bulbs, there are a few things you’ll want to pay attention to on the packaging, and that is lumens and kelvins.

Lumens measure the brightness of the light so the higher the lumens, the brighter the output will be. You’ll want high lumen bulbs in your kitchen and bathrooms and the lowest in your living room and dining room.

Kelvins measure the temperature of your bulbs, the higher the Kelvin the cooler the color will be. A warm white is usually around 2000k- 3000k and gets brighter or more crisp from there.
